How to book our pergola installation service
After completing your pergola purchase, along with adding on our assembly service, our customer service team will be in touch with you to arrange an assembly date. We will send installation forms for you to fill out, which will require images and measurements of the site where the pergola will be installed. We will need to know the type of surface you wish to have the pergola installed on, whether the area is a flat surface, and whether it is concrete or decking. Once we have received your completed forms, our planning team will then be in touch to organise a date with the technician.
We estimate that our lead times for this installation service could be between 4-8 weeks, depending on the stock levels of your chosen product.
How much does it cost to install a pergola?
Our installation service covers the assembly of our 3m x 3m, and 3m x 4m pergolas at the price of £495, and our 3m x 6m and 3m x 8m pergolas at £595. This service can be added to your basket at checkout when you purchase any of our pergolas and then simply follow the instructions above. If you would like to have your structure bolted to the ground it will cost an additional £100, or if you would like your pergola fixed to a porcelain surface it will cost an extra £150.
Please note that pergolas should be installed on hard and flat surfaces such as concrete, however, if you wish to have your pergola fitted to a surface like decking, you will need to add some strengthening work such as additional joists or concrete pads prior to our arrival so that we can easily drill in the necessary bolts.
How long does it take to install a pergola?
The length of time it takes to install a pergola will depend on the size and complexity of your structure, as well as whether you choose to install it yourself as a DIY project or opt for our professional installation service. Providing precise craftsmanship and unparalleled customer care, our assembly team are committed to making your installation a quick and straightforward process so you can enjoy the perks of your new stylish outdoor area as soon as possible.
Installed at a time and date most suitable for you, our assembly team of 2-3 professionals will aim to have any pergola installed in around 4 hours.
Can you install a pergola yourself?
Yes, there is the option to install a pergola yourself if you’d prefer to take this on as a DIY project. Keep in mind that if you choose to install a pergola yourself it may take a few days to assemble, and it will require multiple people to help throughout. Therefore, we would recommend opting for our professional installation service to help streamline the process and have your dream garden space in as little as 4 hours on a day most convenient for you.
Do you need permission to put up a pergola?
In the UK, you typically do not need planning permission to build a pergola, however, there are some exceptions to this that must be taken into consideration before installation.
Pergolas must not take up more than 50% of the space around your home/existing building and should not be installed at the front of any property. They should be no taller than 3 metres if they are within 2 metres of a neighbouring property, and cannot be installed on a balcony, veranda or a raised platform. You may also need planning permission to install a pergola if the building is listed, which you can acquire from your local authority.
If your pergola does not meet any of the above limitations then you are free to install your structure without any permission. If you are unsure about whether or not your pergola may need permission, we suggest contacting your local planning authorities to put your mind at ease and ensure you achieve your dream outdoor space with minimal disruption. All of the pergolas sold here at ATM Living are 2.5m in height.
Does a pergola need to be anchored to concrete?
Yes, all pergolas should be installed on a hard, flat surface so that there is enough structural support to bear its weight. Most pergolas are fitted into concrete ground, however, if you plan to install on existing decking we would recommend you fit concrete slabs prior to installation to provide sufficient structural integrity. Without grounding the legs of the pergola into concrete you may run the risk of deck planks breaking. Our pergola assembly team offer a bolt-to-the-ground service which can be added to your installation package to ensure your structure is fully secured.
